On 22 June 2026, the Museum of Ethnography in Budapest hosted "An Evening of Japan: Food and Culture," a reception organized by the Embassy of Japan. The event brought together representatives of business, culture, media, and academia to experience the richness of Japanese traditions, cuisine, and contemporary cultural exchange.
Guests enjoyed an evening that combined networking opportunities with cultural performances, informative presentations, and a carefully curated exhibition of Japanese food and lifestyle products. The program opened with welcome remarks by Tetsuya Kimura, H.E. the Ambassador of Japan and Dr. Lajos Kemecsi, Director General of the Museum of Ethnography.
One of the highlights of the evening was the live performance by the Anime Ensemble Group, whose musicians presented a selection of songs from popular Japanese anime shows that created a welcoming atmosphere throughout the reception. Visitors also attended presentations on Japanese food culture and innovation, including CHOYA's introduction to the health benefits of ume, as well as a presentation on the collaborative animation project BUSHO, showcasing the growing partnership between the Hungarian and Japanese animation industries.
Throughout the venue, guests explored exhibition booths featuring Japanese organizations and businesses while enjoying a wide variety of authentic Japanese food and beverages. The reception offered sushi prepared from premium frozen tuna using Japan's advanced quick-freezing technology, alongside tofu dishes, onigiri, wagashi, sencha tea, sake, umeshu, and other Japanese specialties such as high-protein instant ramen and functional nonalcoholic beer. The diverse tasting experience provided visitors with an opportunity to discover both traditional flavors and modern Japanese food products.
Our company was honored to support the Embassy of Japan as the event management partner responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and on-site operation of the reception. Working closely with the Embassy, exhibitors, suppliers, and the venue, we helped ensure the smooth execution of every stage of the event, from logistics and exhibitor coordination to guest reception and operational management throughout the evening.
The reception successfully strengthened cultural and business ties between Japan and Hungary while introducing participants to the diversity and innovation of Japanese food and culture. We are proud to have contributed to an event that fostered new connections and created memorable experiences for all attendees.
